So, about me… Hmmm. Who am I? I’m a lot of different things. Currently I’m the mother of two teenagers that I homeschooled until 2 years ago. But also, I’m a former military officer, married to a pilot, zookeeper of 2 dogs and 3 cats. I have an MA from Savannah College of Art and Design in Historic Preservation so I love old buildings and historic towns, though I suspect it’s going to be a while before I actually do anything with all that. Which is okay.
I’m passionate about many things, but I especially enjoy cooking. I LOVE to feed people good food. I also am a bit fanatical about travel, and though I’ve been to many places there are so many more I’d like to see. I’m an environmentalist and a Christian (yes, you can indeed be both) – I’m especially zealous about protecting the beauty and health of this amazing world we’ve been entrusted with. As a family, we’d pretty much rather be outdoors than anywhere else (though I draw the line at camping. I will happily hike all day, but then I prefer a hot bath and a real bed).
I speak a couple of different languages, just for fun, and I get teary eyed over poetry and books. And movies.
I used to sing in a band, and I don’t mean when I was a kid. I mean a few years ago. We were awesome, if I do say so myself.
In my spare time, whatever that may be, I love to paint. Between gardening and painting and cooking, I can ruin a manicure quicker than you’d believe. My Southern girl training apparently did not sink in very well. And I’m completely, totally good with that. Wait, no- I’m THANKFUL for that…
The more I try to educate my children, the more I learn about how much more I need to learn. I am a work in progress, and I always will be. After all, the coolest people I know still don’t know what they want to be when they grow up.
